How about a feature to allow config settings for backups to be exported and reimported if they should get lost or corrupted. ? ( or is there already a way of working out these settings ?) I lost all my backup config for no apparent reason - took a while to reset up app !

BillW on "Backing Up Admin and User Accounts"
My PC has an Admin account and two User accounts on it and I want all three to be backed up by iDrive. Do I set up one schedule or three schedules? If it is done with one schedule, in which account do I define it?
Thanks,
Bill
gracelol on "How to Restore Deleted/Lost Contacts from iPhone X/8/7/6?"
We keep in touch with people with phone calls very conveniently. Thus, losing contacts on iPhone may be the most horrible thing. Is it possible to get the lost contacts back? If it is possible, what should we do?
Actually, we can recover deleted/lost contacts on iPhone through many ways. You can look at this article for reference:
How to Restore Contacts on iPhone X/8/7/6

Hope it will be helpful for you.
MVPost on "Why does iDrive pester me with update notices?"
I want to say when I will update my software and not have the software acting like a virus to get my attention constantly. The "remind in a day" thing is the most infuriating behavior any software can manage. People who add code like that are very childish and small imo.
backupfam on "We *NEED* 2-factor authentication"
It's 2017 and IDrive still doesn't have two factor authentication, a standard option for any modern business that cares about security.
IDrive is awesome but this is a huge missing security feature. Please let us use two-factor authentication for IDrive.
Even an SMS option would be good, but services like Google Authenticator, Authy, etc. are more secure.
Thanks!

Mr Jinx on "Idrive slow restore, capped to 3 Mbit/s?"
I am currently doing a large restore. The restore speed does not go any higher than 3 Mbit/s.
Is Idrive capping network speed?
A little background:
My connection is 200Mbit/s down and 20Mbit/s up.
Tested with different speedtests, there is no problem with this connection.
Computer is a fast intel i7 connected with 1GB lan cable (no wireless).
I have reported this problem a year ago, and this is what technical support said:
"We apologize for the delay in providing resolution to the issue which you had reported to us. Our development team are still working on this issue and provide you an update at the earliest."
I kept asking for a solution or some answers, but they kept telling they are working on it.
Right now, a year later, I am surprised to see nothing has changed.
The Express restore service is not really an option for now, it will take at least 7 days to ship to europe and will cost over $100.
SteveWarner on "New Files Not Being Detected For Scheduled BackUp"
I am a new user who recently installed IDrive. After a massive initial backup of 500 GB which ran nearly 2 weeks, I notice now that newly added files to the same drive are not being backed up. When I selected restore the files are not found. I do see the files are selected in backup. I have to unselect them and reselect the new files in backup for the backup to occur. The daily schedule backup does not find them. Having to select all newly added files defeats the purpose of an incremental backup.
I have filed a trouble report but wondered if anyone on this forum has had a similar experience? Have I done something wrong?
I noticed there is a setting for verify backup set every 2 days (that is the min). Is that involved because the backup set has to verify to pickup the changes?
Chad B on "Error running Perl scripts"
I am unable to run the Linux Perl scripts that I downloaded from: https://www.idrive.com/readme
When I try to execute the Account_Setting.pl script (with command ./Account_Setting.pl), I get the following message:
Failed to create process: No such file or directory
I followed the instructions on the web page:
Downloaded the scripts
Extracted them to a folder (under my home directory)
Set execute permissions to all .pl script files in the directory
I also found the idevsutil file on the iDrive forums and put it in the same directory
Set execute permission on idevsutil
Here is my setup:
Linux 4.4.0-47-generic #68-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 26 19:39:52 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Perl v5.22.1 installed
ECA on "Configure location of my sync folder"
I am runnning the latest client version on windows 10. I want to change the location of the my sync folder, currently the field is blank.
Upon clicking "Modify" and selecting a new location I get the error message:
This folder is inside your current sync folder.
This cannot be because a) the value is blank, b) I have chose a folder on a new empty drive.
MungDrool on "iDrive fails on scheduled backup"
I have two windows 10 machines that are scheduled to back up overnight. They are both failing with the same message: Scheduled backup has been skipped because Interactive backup is in progress. As far as I know there is no interactive backup running. How can I determine what interactive backup is running? This has been happening on one of the machines for over a week, though it seemed to work OK for the first few days. I just set up the second machine with iDrive, and it has gotten this error from the first time it tried to back up.
Any help would be appreciated.
WhoaLegacy on "Web Site Timeout and App Settings"
You need one. Plain and simple. I can't believe this isn't a huge compliance issue.
If you have one, it is overly long.
I would say the same for the client. A password to get at the settings.
Thanks.
WhoaLegacy on "Missing Desktop in Classic View, Shows Everywhere Else and Backs Up Fine."
This is obviously a back end thing, though I opened a ticket and was asked to connect via chat and twice timed out waiting....
only 3 of 4 devices show up in the Dashboard in the Web UI. The missing device is a Windows 10 PC that I have enabled and reenabled to force it to show, reinstalled the tray as well, and no luck.
The device backs up, the device shows up from any client window in the drop down list when you select the restore option from your tray app, and I can see the system and the files in the classic view (when you first sign in).
It just doesn't NOT show up on the dashboard.

SteveWarner on "Need Ability to See Support Tickets"
It is very surprising to me that you cannot see the status of support tickets with IDrive. I am used to opening a ticket and then being able to look up my support profile and seeing the status of any active tickets, past tickets and support personnel updates. Normally there is a means to add user actions and questions directly to the ticket. Why does IDrive not have this ability in their support system?
JJJJJ on "Add Feature to Prioritize Folders for Backup"
Hi, I am another CrashPlan widow and the main feature I miss is the ability to create "Backup Sets" (groups of folders to backup as configured by user) and prioritize them to backup in the order determined by the user.
Some folders have top priority for backup (e.g. my current work folders) and having iDrive do them first before other less-important folders is the need.
Oshyan on "Deduplication and file move handling"
I recently moved 150GB of data from one drive to another. Both drives are being backed up by iDrive in the same backup set, both locally and to iDrive servers. After moving this data I expected iDrive to simply recognize that these files had changed location and update the file locations, but not re-upload the data (as the data itself had *not* changed). Instead iDrive re-uploaded all 150GB of data, which required saturating my cable connection's outgoing bandwidth for days.
This seems like a fundamental missing feature, and one I expect any good backup program to have. I realize there is encryption involved, but if the local client simply generates file hashes, you should be able to easily detect whether a file that shows as "new" is in fact simply a *moved* file that already existed. Then you can just change the folder that the backup set indicates that file belongs to, rather than re-uploading the entire thing. Re-uploading wastes the user's bandwidth, and iDrive's bandwidth *and* storage space. Bad design.
iDrive should have per-user (not global!) deduplication and/or file move detection and handle it more appropriately.
Hamitup on "Synology 2018 model questions"
IDrive is not showing support for the 2018 models of Synology NAS units. I have a brand new DS418play model and have a couple of questions;
1. Is there any reasonable expectation that the universal installer will work on the brand new Synology models, specifically the DS418play?
2. If one uses the universal installer and later IDrive issues a version specifically for your model, how hard is it to change over, and would the backup start all over again?
digitalbits on "Back up kid's files without exposing ability for kid to restore parent's files!"
I have three machines: Mac, Linux and Windows. Each has four accounts: Mom, Dad, Kid 1, Kid 2.
Backing up with iDrive I started by installing a profile in all 12 accounts (per customer support). But that's crazy. Among other things, that means Kid 1 and Kid 2 can "restore" any file from the parent accounts.
Instead I set up an account on Mac Mom's account. Then added each of the Kid's home folders. They show up with an angry red (-) symbol, but they back up just fine.
BeanBagKing on "Scheduler -> Email -> On Changed Files"
Currently, in the Scheduler, there is an option to enable email notifications, from there you can "Notify always" or "Notify on Failure".
I would love to see the option to to "Notify on Changed Files". My backups are relatively static, a few configuration files may be updated, but the majority of the photos, videos, and documents that I back up do not change. If these do change for some reason (removed from the backup, encrypted with ransomware, etc). I would love to have a notification that they have been changed.
Ideally, this email would be in a diff format. In other words, it would show that 20 of 8723 files have changed. The following 10 files were changed (list), the following 7 files were added (list), the following 3 files were removed (list).
This may not be a useful feature for those that have a large amount of files that change daily, but I feel like the majority of your customers would benefit from an update to their current backup status.
