Dear sir, madam,

I see many people in the forum experiencing the same thing: very very slow uploads. In my case not even 1% of the speed of my connection.
You are not addressing this problem correctly, the only thing I see you do is asking people to get in touch via the Send Error Report.

Wouldn't it be time to come out with a statement and explain what is going on? Or are you scamming us?

I have just started, it doesn't feel right in any way, due to your lack of appropriate online response. Since you are not performing as one might expect, I want to cancel my subscription and would like my money back.

I simply do not trust you with my data. And trust is key here.

How do I cancel?

Hi. A long-ish story. I was using idrive successfully, backing up my QNAP NAS. I decided to upgrade my NAS firmware to a Beta version (seemed like a good idea at the time) even though I knew it would kill my iDrive client but I continued periodically backing up to iDrive using the Perl scripts.

Now QNAP has made a compatible iDrive client available and I've set that up. I've renamed the old backup and left it on the server. Everything looks good except that backup fails leaving nothing in the log to say why! I've tried manual backups and a scheduled backup with the same result.

The client appears to log in to the server but I'm not convinced any communication is happening. If I try to restore from the client I just get the 'busy' symbol ad infinitum and if I set up a backup schedule on the server it doesn't sync to the client.

I've submitted a ticket ID01080825 and I expect someone will get back to me when I hit the top of the queue, but I thought maybe I could preempt through you guys?

Any assistance gratefully received!

David

As anyone experienced this issue? I recently noticed that when I do a manual backup of select folders IDrive will say the backup operation was a success, when actually only about 80-90% of the files have been backed up. When I retry the operation it immediately says the backup was successful, leaving 10-20% of my files.

I never would have found this error if I had not double checked the online directory and saw all of the missing files.

This is yet another big bug that could be affecting many users but they wouldn't ever know it without double checking every folder/file.

IDrive support continues to say they are looking into it, but I have had several other issues they are investigating which have not been resolved in 6+ weeks.

Backup is failing after the last update. Looking at the logs and comparing to a prior successful back Permission messages that were information are now errors. Also how do I give IDrive permission to back up these files?

My PC has an Admin account and two User accounts on it and I want all three to be backed up by iDrive. Do I set up one schedule or three schedules? If it is done with one schedule, in which account do I define it?

Thanks,
Bill

SanMan on "Local backup-Permission denied"

On multiple computers I have the Idrive client local backup failing. When it runs, hundreds of files will fail each time. Sometimes the same files will fail and other times there are new ones.
Example of error:

ERROR] [01/17/2015 18:31:52] [[/C/Users/Csmith/Favorites/Stuff/News.com News!.url][Reason: permission denied]]

All of the users are local administrators. There are no permissions issues. I have made sure there is no other backup software, disabled the AV,etc. The files are in documents, pictures, favorites, and music.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Vlodko on "Sync much slower than backup?"

Are there any reasons why the syncing can be very_much_slower than a backup? I can upload my backup up to 1 MBps but the syncing is working about 25 KBps (no matter is backup working at the moment or not). Of course I use the latest version of the IDrive client software (Windows 7 64x).

How hard is it, in 2017 to cancel an account on any services online? It's easy... you opt out, you tell them why, they stop billing you and everyone is happy.

Oh no wait... iDrive has a different way to process these : You disable renewal, but you also want to cancel your account, so you sent a email to the support team, but they wont accept a cancel request by email, which is funny, since your login IS your email. so... I write them again to make sure I won't be billed, since I dont want to waste my precious time over the phone with a rep that's going to try and convince me to stay... but they assure me that my account was not going to be renewed... guess... what a great surprise i got looking at a transaction from the lovely people at iDrive... they took my money and decided, without my consent, that they should remain on my payroll...

This is not the way to treat a customer. and I certainly hope that you have the balls to leave this comment here so people see what kind of business you guys operate!

mnewdigate on "Super Slow Backup Times"

I see this appears to be a common 'issue' with users of iDrive. I have some remote users that I use iDrive to backup their laptops. One laptop took over a week to backup. I am now testing backing up local laptops to a Synology NAS and the backup times are just as slow (~1Mb/s). It looks like the typical answer is that the application is designed to use the speed of the network. Well in this case both devices are local and are definitely not close to the speed of the network. Has anyone found the reason everything runs so slow? Great product if it didn't take a week to backup a laptop.

I've recently installed the application on the latest version of Idrive (2.03.26 and Synology(6.1.1-15101 Update 2)

The Idrive keeps asking for login to both Synology Sync and Idrive Account when I re-login to PC / Synology, I believe the backup stops as soon as I log off the computer.

Surely the idea of running on a NAS is to make sure the backups can run all the time!

Any support gratefully received.

Thanks

James

Can we please have an option to ignore reparse points on Windows? This would prevent iDrive from reporting misleading permission errors on folders such as C:\Users\username\Application Data

Thanks

xplatinum on "Archive Cleanup leaving folders behind"

I noticed that the archive cleanup function will ONLY remove files from the online backup and will leave the folders containing those files there. I don't see how this is a logic appproach. If I remove a folder from my local drive, the changes should be 100% replicated in my online backup.

I shouldn't have to manually and periodically cleanup after the application by removing all the empty folders left behind.

I'm about to enable File Vault on my mac. What does it mean to my iDrive backup ? I assume I'd be at a start-over point ? Anyone out there do this ? Sorry for the vagueness of the question as I'm new to file vault as well.

Since installing the latest iDrive version, 2.03.16, I am unable to perform an archive cleanup.
This is resulting in my iDrive space filling up. I keep going over the space limit and have to purge old data manually.

The Archive Cleanup option worked ok with previous versions but this time even though it appears to start the process the number of files scanned remains at zero for ever. The previous version would rattle the hard drives as soon as it started scanning
but now there is now no activity.

BillT on "iBackup cannot see connection to mapped drives"

$

I'm seeing a repeated problem with several clients using iBackup for both cloud and local backups. The cloud backup seems to work ok, but the local backups - backing up to a share on a server as a mapped drive, seems to repeatedly and utterly fail. I've worked with support to try to identify why this seems to be happening so often at so many different accounts and the fix in the past has been "install the latest update of client software" and sometimes it will run and then eventually will fail again with the error "Unable to continue the scheduled Backup. Reason: Drive X:\ is not connected." although drive X is indeed connected and available to the user under which the program is running. I'm posting this here to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue and what they have been able to learn about what's causing it and ideally how we can fix it. I really like the iBackup product performance in general and certainly the costs for my clients, but this single irritating recurring problem and my difficulty in obtaining the level of support to resolve it is really starting to get to me. Anyone else seeing this issue with local backups using iBackup when the destination is a local network location that is a mapped drive?
