Backing up is easy. It is the restore that is IMPOSSIBLE ... and important.

My old computer died. Of course, everything is backed up on Idrive. I can see it on the web site. 494.47GB. I can see the files. When I try to restore one, it says "Error! There is a problem please try again after some time". I have tried for 4 days and it still says the same thing.

If I try "folder restore" from the web interface, it says: "There was a problem. Try again later."

As for IDrive for Windows, the new version (v 6.5.1.27) will not work for me (because I am an old-time user!). It reports: "This account has been created prior to 11-23-2011. Click Here to download the compatible version of the application."

The compatible version seems to be 3.4.4. It performs backups just fine for my new machine as it did for my old machine. It can restore files from my new machine. I fails to restore anythinig from my old machine.

On the restore tab, the name of my old machine appears along with my new machine. However, it does not expand to show any content.

Please, please do not tell me that backups work fine and restores do not.

Please help if you can.

I was recently billed nearly 10x my annual subscription price for data overages, to which I was never notified, and which were created through a glitchy scheduling feature combined with the inability to actually delete files from our account to get under the plan limit. After hours of back and forth I was only able to get a 50% refund for this fee, and no answer about the glitch that caused the overage in the first place. Within days, I'm seeing data piling up despite having all backups disabled, and am of course concerned about being erroneously charged yet again for this glitch. As I have yet to receive decent customer service and have alternatives that are better products & better service which don't cause issues that get blamed on the customer & billed for it, I just want to cancel my iDrive account at this point. Yet I cannot seem to do this.

Backup stopped in some reasons then I started backup. But it contionusly says "preparing file list". It does not backup my files. Please help

idwutil_600.exe (32 bit) is using a lot of cpu resources (approx 30%)= is this normal? is there a way to limit/change/etc this. 30% of cpu for backup service seems high. if this is the case and is normal, i will have to change backup services.

After upgrading Mikrotik router firmware at multiple locations to 6.38.5, multiple idrive installs started failing (but not consistently, and sometimes took 1-2 weeks before it started failing on the backups).

That should be impossible if the idrive client traffic to the servers is an encrypted stream of traffic?

I successfully installed the Synology Backup Version 2.03.24, and was able to select the volume/path of my Synology I wanted to backup. But now, whenever I get into the app, and go to "Backup", I get a greyed out panel and two spinning wheels. Like it's trying to fill in something. It just spins and spins until I eventually get signed out due to inactivity.

If I click on "Restore", "Scheduler" or "Log", no problem. Thoughts?

Locked out of my account now for over 3 days with complete inability to access backed up files. Backup itself failing every backup. The basic concept of a backup/restore service is that you need to be able to access your critical files at anytime. Second time this has happened with first time taking over 1 week to get service restored. IDrive - you need to explain this

Gentleman, WE CANT ACCESS idrive account for more than a week. The message(account is temporarily unavailable due to maintenance We regret any inconvenience) is appearing all the time.

I Really need an official position about this problem with our iDrive account. What Happen????????????????

We are waiting for a one week, or more, for a position about the solution.

This is a serious issue that is causing money loss to us. When can we could access the account to restore some lost files?

I need a serious position about that. It is impossible to work with a tool that does not work.

I hope receive your answer ASAP.

Prior to my auto-renewal, I received an email offering me double the space for $10 more. Not bad but I'm only using 11% of my space.

The email goes on to tell me: "When your account renews later this month, you will be automatically upgraded to this plan." How do you have the nerve to upgrade my plan without my permission?

I took care of this problem. But I'm hoping this heads up will be of use to others.

The file level restore is ok for single files. but is not usable for restoring a folder with thousends of files.

example yesterday one file has v4 one v10 and one v15, today i changed the files v10 to v11 and v15 to v16, something was wrong today and i have to restore to the files version from yesterday, when i restore the folder to most recent i have the files v3,v10,v15 but the v3 file should be v4.

Hello,

I am new subscriber and I have a NAS drive that has duplicate files on it. I know there are duplicates (sometimes entire directory structures are duplicated).

Does your software that you install on the PC allow you to search NAS drives to find duplicate files and give help/good way to clean them up?

Or do you suggest another good tool to do so?

I want to get everything cleaned up before I start my backup.

I saw one or two posts in the forums about software to use but they were from 4 or 5 years ago.

I just subscribed to iDrive recently, instead of Carbonite that I used to use.

It took something like a week, with our high speed internet connection and high speed wifi, to do the initial backup set of about 2.4GB.

So now I want it to do real time backup of changed files. I set it to Continuous and Real-Time in the settings, but it doesn't seem to actually be doing anything. It's saying it hasn't backed up in a couple of days. How do I get this thing working?

I'm an independent IT consultant, and many many of my customers are on iDrive as usually it just works.

One customer, single machine (Server 2012R2), doing file only backup on iDrive daily - working perfectly.

Sunday 22 May, server had latest updates applied, iDrive client updated, and rebooted.

Since then, the backups do not work suggesting internet connection issue. I've logged out of the client, and cannot log in "Unable to connect, try again".

* The username/password is correct - logs into web portal fine. Also, on another machine on another location, it works fine.
* Another iDrive account that works fine also gets the same error on the client
* I have removed the client, cleaned settings data, cleaned all keys etc, reinstalled the client, same issue.
* Windows firewall is off (always is as behind external firewall)
* Firewall allows all outgoing traffic and not been touched in 6mths+
* AV is not blocking anything (Sophos corporate), web filtering off.
* Server is hosted in Rackspace if that matters
* Checked https://www.idrive.com/online-backup-firewall-guidance and checked connectivity over shown ports to all IPs given, and connection from me to those ports works fine. (Proves firewall isn't blocking if nothing else!)

I had an online chat on Sunday, got nowhere, call logged. Had emails today saying with 2nd line. However, no facts, no information, and 36 hours down on paid-for backup software is shocking.

The scripted responses are also shocking on here!

Of course, iDrive have been suggesting its at my end blocking it. As I can connect to the servers and ports given, I doubt that, but...

I'm also sure I had this many moons ago with another client and it just started working later.

ANYWYAY
- Is there any way to test connectivity with a debug mode or test client?
- Any other possible fixes?

Hello,

My Sync folder/ drive does not display the green 'tick' on my Windows 10 machine that I used to get on my Windows 7 machine nor does the sync folder appear to sync correctly.

I deleted/ reset my sync folder on my laptop, downloaded the files again from the cloud. But it would not up load any new files. I have ~105 GB of data uploaded. I moved my sync folder to see if it was the name... but only ~10 GB of the data was moved.

Can you please help resolve this issue. I have tried all sorts of ways to get my sync drive syncing again but to no avail.

One recommended feature is for the IDrive tray icon to change appearance based on state (i.e. running backup, paused, idle, etc.) I think that would be great!
