Ganthet on "Synology DS212j upload spped"
I recently upgraded my iDrive account to the 1TB option to back up my DS212j. I have v2.03.05 of the iDrive app. The NAS is connected to and HP procurve 1800-24G gigabit switch. I'm currently seeing upload speeds of roughly 20Mbps, which is nice, but is not fully using my available upstream bandwidth.
I know iDrive claims they do not throttle uploads. Looking at my DS212j I see the CPU is hovering around 97% so I think my upload speeds might be limited by the rather simple ARM processor in the NAS.
Anyone have any suggestions to pin down my issue?
Soren on "Synology idrive configuration accessible from web server"
I have installed IDrive on my Synology. I also use Photo Station and Web Station with router port forward, so they are accessible from the internet.
I noticed that the IDrive app installs in the web share under /IDrive and is therefore also accessible from the internet. Configuration is also in the web directory in /idrive and since there is no access restriction it is also accessible from the internet.
As a result of this I can from the internet find my idrive userid in http://<server name>/idrive/.cache/user.txt, and then find user information in http://<server name>/idrive/user_profile/<idrive userid>/ including an IDPWD file that I assume contains my IDrive password in some encoding.
So my question is, if there is a way to move /idrive from web share to a safe place?
For now I have added .htaccess to the folders, to restrict access.
(Also viewLog.php can be used to view any file in the file system, but since it requires login, I am less worried about that.)
milwiron on "Continuous Data Protection and Folders"
I'm storing short security videos on my local computer in a folder simply called- Security. Can Continuous Data Protection upload the Security folder each time a new video file is added in real time? Or does it only look for changed individual files?
I have the folder called out under -Open File Backup- but nothing gets uploaded when a new video file is added to the folder. Thank you for any help.

Anybody had any success (or lack of) trying to back up a WD My Cloud to iDrive? Not through a computer, but directly from the My Cloud device.
Since the My Cloud is a Linux box, can that add in be used somehow?

The Qnap app is showing the background page only with no data when I click on detail in the logs. I have multiple QNAP (Intel based) installations that have this issue. I did notice that in progress jobs will show data under detail. It was working fine recently

8F Consulting on "Synology iDrive Problem"
Hi there:
I have a DS415+ and Optimum Online 20/5 plan using OOL's router (a re-branded DLink unit). I installed and configured iDrive for a weekly backup and just started an initial backup. I noticed that as soon as the backup starts, the internet connection goes down and up as if the backup is overloading the connection. Ever heard of this problem? Could it be the router? This only seems to occur with the iDrive backup.
PhilF on "CDP for Synology NAS??"
The most frequent backup schedule for the Synology app is currently one hourly, - there is no CDP functionality. I also use the NAS with the Surveillance Station (using Beta v7) and the ability to have almost instant backup of the snapshot motion recordings would be a great addition to iDrive in order to safeguard against the physical theft of the NAS.
Even if real CDP is, (for some reason - memory??) not feasible, a two or five minute backup interval would be a great improvement.
Any chance please??

TheDon on "Internet Loses Connection ..."
Hi ... wondering if anyone has had this issue ... I installed iDrive last week (tired to call support this weekend ... closed) ... and since I have installed iDrive ... my desktop Windows 7 computer continues to studder and eventually loses all internet connectivity ... I have literally been on the phone with my broad band provider and Dell all week ... it works great in Safe Networking mode, but once you do a regular boot ... it just simple stops allowing me access through any browser (IE, Firefox, and/or Chrome) to consistently connect to the internet ... The only think I can think of that has changed on my computer is the fact that I installed iDrive last Sunday ... I would very much appreciate any help or feedback ... thank you ...

Sparky on "Huge usage discrepancy - Mac"
iDrive version 3.1.0.11 running on a Mac Pro (OS 10.8.5)
iDrive is reporting that I'm using 199.85 GB total for my account, where 199.39 GB is being used by "Mac Pro" and the rest for my Facebook backup.
However, iDrive is also reporting that the "Mac Pro" backup set is approximately 155.00 GB, which is a long way from 199 GB.
I've already performed the "Archive Cleanup" several times and this only resulted in a 1 or 2 GB reduction.
Either the reported usage is incorrect or the estimated backup set size is off by more than 25%.
So how do you explain the extra 44 GB?
CityRes on "Backup never works"

BD on "Disk Image Backup takes too long!!!, etc!!"
The Disk Image Backup feature to backup my C: drive to an external hard drive is very badly developed! First, Why is it backing up the exact size of my C: drive rather than creating a disk image of just what is used on my c: drive! For example, I have a 1.5 TB C: drive and when I tried to run the Idrive Disk Image Backup, it stated that I did not have enough external hard drive space to backup my C: drive, which shows that I am only using 90 GB of used space on my C: drive! I tried backuping up to another USB 3.0 external drive that is 2 TB and that when I noticed that it, the Idrive Disk Image Backup, was backing up the exact size of my 1.5 TB C: drive and it stated that is would take about 2 days! Why?
This should work like Windows Backup and ONLY backup what is used on the disk!
Also, there should be a scheduling option also, but as it is now, I cannot use this feature because of the time it takes, etc!
Look forwardt o your reply!
Thank you!

danogus on "iDrive Mobile not showing any status on Uploads screen"
I signed up for the mobile unlimited backup plan and when I try to back up either my phone or my wife's phone there is not status changes when I go to the Uploads for videos. I am able to upload and back up the photos quickly without a problem, but the videos take forever and appears to be no actual uploading happening when I click on the Videos link to show all the files queued up to be backed up. I've left both phones open and backing up over night a few nights now and still not showing any progress.
I understand that videos take longer but I would think we would be showing some progress after being left over night. I know it works since I've backed up some videos in the past as well as the photos are having no problems being backed up. Thanks
Leer on "Add Synology backup"
A port of the current idrive to a syno system would be nice. It is linux based so some new dev would be needed and they do have an app for hidrive that could be useful.
Sparky on "Scheduled backup not firing since last iDrive update"
First off, I WILL NOT FILE A TROUBLE TICKET. Your support is horrifically poor and I have better things to do with my time than try to convince iDrive level 1 support that there is yet ANOTHER BUG! You can participate with me in this thread and fix your product, or you can just forget about it. Your choice; after spending months trying to get you to fix two other confirmed bugs, I don't really care anymore.
1. I have NOT changed my settings or my schedule. I have a pending schedule that is set for 7:30 PM on M-Tu-W-Th-Fr
2. According to my logs, the last backup occurred on Monday Feb 9.
3. NO backup occurred on 2/10 or 2/11, yet it was scheduled.
4. There are no log entries or error messages to explain this.
5. The "iDrive status" is correctly reporting that the next scheduled backup is for 2/12 at 7:30p
6. The only thing that has changed since the last successful backup is that I updated my iDrive software to Mac v3.1.0.36 Clearly this last update broke something! Can you hear me this time? I updated the iDrive software and then my scheduled backups stopped working without any log entries or error messages!
juanjo on "I'm really desperate with iDrive"
24 days without news about my problem with "Sync" partition (I can't use it at all) and I don't have any feedback or solution for my problem. I only want to know if is only me who suffer this awful support or is always like this. Totally desperate.
oldie70 on "Admin user can't backup user's folders - lack of permission"
I use a limited user for my work, while Windows iDrive runs in Admin.
Although I can backup C:/users/~/My Documents and its folders without difficulty, I get an error message in the log, saying there's no permission, if I try to backup any of :
c:/users/~/My Music, c:/users/~/My Pictures or c:/users/~/My Videos.
I was under the impression that Admin could access anything, and, using properties, I can see no difference between these folders.
There's virtually nothing in these folders (I use Public Music, etc.), so I can simply put them on the exclude list, but I'd like to know why it's happening.
