Is there a way to see if the back up can be done behind the firewall at work? I'm not sure if I can or not but was curious so I thought I'd ask. Thanks

When "restore last session" is active, the sync and backup folder tree won't load when reopening Firefox

In FF 35 reproducible like this:
1. In Options > General select "Restore my windows and tabs from last time"
2. Log into the IDrive account, selecting "Remember me"
3. Close and reopen Firefox
4. Go to https://www.idrive.com/idrive/home or https://www.idrive.com/idrive/sync/

This seems to be happening because the JSESSIONID cookie expires but FF does not delete it.

Hi, I just got the unlimited package for mobile devices but I'm having trouble with my iPhone. I have both an android and an iPhone, while the android app works fine, the iPhone app stops backing up if I leave the app screen.
Am I forced to leave the app open or is there something that I'm missing here? Android upload speeds are not great, but at least they work!

Thank you for this update. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. The Backup Tab is blank, no content can be selected. The Restore and Scheduler seems to work fine. The online storage usage bar doesn't work either.
Note that I am logging in with an administrator user account, not with the admin account.

v2.03.06 was working fine!

Hello,

The Idrive tray icon needs to show when it it uploading files. All other online backup programs that I have tried, which is a lot, will show some indication that activity, such as uploading, is occurring. This should be implemented asap.

Still trying to get that initial backup performed (for 2 weeks), and still on 30% complete (81.09GB of 270.49 GB). Ran all day and got from 29% to 30%.
Noticed that if i do Speedtest, my upload speed drops from the normal 1.00 Mbps upload speed to 0.3 Mbps. My download speed runs between 12 to 15 Mbps. I don't seem to have any other issue except the slowness of this backup process. I expected the initial backup to be slow, but 2 weeks later and less than a third of the way there? Seems like there is something wrong with this application.
Any body else suffer from such a slow process? i have the 1000 GB plan, and not sure i'll renew next time. Purchased a competitor solution for my daughter and the interface and backup seemed to be much slicker and faster.

I think it would be a very useful feature for the web interface and the mobile apps if you could move/copy files between the backup and the sync storage

The Android app should have a dedicated share location for the sync folder. If I want to upload files from another app to my IDrive sync, I have to save them first and then upload them through the IDrive app. That could be much easier if I could directly share into my sync folder.

I am perturbed at the way the 'upgrade' has played out for older customers and what it indicates about care and concern for customers.

System said there was an update. I update. Then I get told my account is created before 11-23-2011 (ie 23-11-2011) and I must download a 'compatible' application or signup for a new account. wtf?

Since I had recently within the last couple of months just re uploaded most of my backup (new laptop and reorg), I didn't want to go 'backwards' or be stuck with additional software.

So I tried to understand what is going on - something about underlying architecture - fine - so convert the files. Ah "not possible" (oh come on, anything's possible. If I can do a restore, cancel my account, create a new one and reupload, then you could convert the files - it just means you not prepared to do it, not even to maintain a reputation and keep customers happy.

In the business world I come from, an existing customer is to be cherished and looked after, not inconvenienced.

There is a prompt to signup for a new account...There is no mention of whether the existing months left on the account will be credited to the new account. Further research shows that cancel means no refund.. somewhat high handed approach to existing customers.

I have no problem blowing away the backup and starting again with a clean setup. I gather from the other gentlemans post (see Bizarre policy) that this is not encouraged, facilitated ? why not ? - told to cancel a/c and signup for new.

The thought occurs that either
1) you are trying to get rid of older customers for some reason
2) or the process is just not being well managed..... also concerning when it is one's backup provider.

I am astonished that you would not provide or simply manage a conversion of your existing customers. At the least you perhaps could have celebrated the change by offering existing customers an incentive to put up with the inconvenience and convert their accounts.

In the interim I download the compatible application only to find that now I'm back at the old version 3.4.1 and not a version of the new version 6.0.0..... what a waste of my time!

Since I need backups to be happening now, I have to live with it until such time as I can look for alternatives or account is due for renewal (or for course just forgo the funds, not a big amount but I don't feel like rewarding bad management.

If we stay, are we forever going to be stuck on old software that is possibly not updated or maintained as the new version gets all the 'love' ?

Seriously folks, you have this referral program thing going (those inane "recommendations") and then you mess around existing customers... not good.

Hi, I have installed the package for the DS412+ but when I login using my admin account I just get a blank index.php page. I have tried two browsers. Is there something that I have missed?

On multiple computers I have the Idrive client local backup failing. When it runs, hundreds of files will fail each time. Sometimes the same files will fail and other times there are new ones.
Example of error:

ERROR] [01/17/2015 18:31:52] [[/C/Users/Csmith/Favorites/Stuff/News.com News!.url][Reason: permission denied]]

All of the users are local administrators. There are no permissions issues. I have made sure there is no other backup software, disabled the AV,etc. The files are in documents, pictures, favorites, and music.

Any ideas?

I backup multiple computers to a single iDrive account. For years, only minor issues have popped up from time to time. On 1/18/15, scheduled (and manual) backups worked as intended. On 1/19, for the first of my computers, iDrive left this report in the backup log: "unable to get port information". Since then, all computers on my account fail backups with "Unable to perform scheduled backup. Possible reasons include: 1. No internet connection. 2. Firewall has denied access to the IDrive application." I cannot even log into my account from the iDrive local application (I can log in online). Nothing has changed on my end other than the most recent Microsoft patches which were auto applied sometime last week. I even turned off my firewall completely to test if that was somehow the cause. Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem? (I logged a trouble ticked Sunday night ... it was evidently escalated to tier 2 support on Monday, but I have heard nothing since)

I was on a remote connection with the dev team and we identified the source of the problem.

If the admin password contains a $ character, the iDrive application will not be able to display the content of the NAS for backup selection.

Changing the password resolved the issue completely.

So I moved from the old Idrive to new. I have 500GB to back up that is on a WD EX4 NAS. The machine doing the work has mapped the NAS and I have multiple directories all backing up and a number of files in the "root" directory of this drive (aka share). Idrive sent me a HDD to back up and mail in for the first backup. But, not all of the files in the root directory are backing up. There are EXE, ZIP, TXT, INF, DAT, files that are not backing up. I tried to chat with tech support and was connected with someone who either has a poor command of the English language, or one who is not capable of deviating from the company line/tech support for dummies script written for him.

He went on and on about how Idrive does not back up system files. THIS IS NOT a system disk, there is no operating system on this drive. Only archived files. So why will Idrive not back these up? When selecting files, they all appear with a check mark. The operation is completed with no errors. But when I choose RESTORE to see what is listed. At least 10 files in the root directory are not listed.

This is driving me nuts!
