We have released a new version of IDrive for QNAP (Ver 2.03.24 Dt. 01/02/2018). We have addressed the issue pertaining to shared folder listing in the backup page for latest QTS.

As described above. My customers are set up with daily backups and sometimes there are no changed files to backup. IDrive then shows "Backup status" as "Failure" and the summary page shows "[Unable to continue the backup operation. Reason : There are no files to backup]"

Come on, that's a false alarm. When there is no changed files to backup, don't say the backup failed! I don't want panic calls from my customers when that happens.

Hi,
I tried to run the scripts on a freenas machine (FreeBSD 11.1)

and idevsutil fails to start.
Do you have a version that can run on a FreeBSD or do you only support linux?

Thanks,
mordy.

I'm an iDrive customer, and I chose your company because of your stated compatibility with Synology. Model DS118 has no compatible installer with iDrive. You have a number of installers listed, but not the 118 and the universal installer doesn't work. How long before the 118 is supported? Thank you.

idrive_frustration on "iDrive client, Unable to connect"

I'm an independent IT consultant, and many many of my customers are on iDrive as usually it just works.

One customer, single machine (Server 2012R2), doing file only backup on iDrive daily - working perfectly.

Sunday 22 May, server had latest updates applied, iDrive client updated, and rebooted.

Since then, the backups do not work suggesting internet connection issue. I've logged out of the client, and cannot log in "Unable to connect, try again".

* The username/password is correct - logs into web portal fine. Also, on another machine on another location, it works fine.
* Another iDrive account that works fine also gets the same error on the client
* I have removed the client, cleaned settings data, cleaned all keys etc, reinstalled the client, same issue.
* Windows firewall is off (always is as behind external firewall)
* Firewall allows all outgoing traffic and not been touched in 6mths+
* AV is not blocking anything (Sophos corporate), web filtering off.
* Server is hosted in Rackspace if that matters
* Checked https://www.idrive.com/online-backup-firewall-guidance and checked connectivity over shown ports to all IPs given, and connection from me to those ports works fine. (Proves firewall isn't blocking if nothing else!)

I had an online chat on Sunday, got nowhere, call logged. Had emails today saying with 2nd line. However, no facts, no information, and 36 hours down on paid-for backup software is shocking.

The scripted responses are also shocking on here!

Of course, iDrive have been suggesting its at my end blocking it. As I can connect to the servers and ports given, I doubt that, but...

I'm also sure I had this many moons ago with another client and it just started working later.

ANYWYAY
- Is there any way to test connectivity with a debug mode or test client?
- Any other possible fixes?

Thanks

I've already made a support ticket for this, but it's been dragging on and I want to see if anyone else has any input on this issue.

Just installed the IDrive scripts on my Debian 9.3 laptop, following the official readme. Scripts seem to execute fine--I can make it through Account_Setting.pl just fine, and it ends by saying my user is logged in. However, if I run Login.pl or almost any other script, I get this:

================================================================================
Version : 2.11 Developed By: IDrive Inc.
---------------- --------------------------------------------
Logged in user : No Logged In User
================================================================================

Enter your IDrive username: XXXXX@XXXXX.com
Your account is not configured. Please configure using Account_Setting.pl and try again.

If I go back to Account_Setting (or Check_For_Updates.pl), it recognizes that I'm already logged in.

================================================================================
Version : 2.11 Developed By: IDrive Inc.
---------------- --------------------------------------------
Logged in user : XXXXX@XXXXX.com
---------------- --------------------------------------------
Quota Display : 197.24 GB(used)/500 GB(total)
================================================================================

Note that the 197GB already used is from another workstation. I continue with Account_Setting.pl's prompts, and it ends successfully. But I still can't login or run the backup--it just tells me that my user is not configured, run Account_Setting.pl.

Any ideas here? I verified that the script creates a directory for my username under my idrive service folder: /var/tmp/idrive/user_profile/XXXXX@XXXXX.com

As our environment is dying day by day. Every one of us is forced to cut back on things that kill it. (And of course, the rules are too strict). So for our companies, I am looking to use green materials were ever as possible. But there is a real issue. We don't have enough resources for that. So we need someone else to design the green materials for us. I found this company who does green material design in my research. How is their service?

dfb on "Linux + iDrive Express?"

Hi, I have about 3TB of data to back up, so I ordered the iDrive Express and the drive arrived today. But, most of my data is on a Linux machine so I've been using the iDrive scripts for Linux.

Is it possible for me to do my initial backup from Linux to the hard drive from iDrive? If so, how do I do that?

Or, should I do the initial backup from e.g. a Windows machine on my LAN that can access the files on the Linux machine? This route is fine by me, but I do wonder about how the paths will show up in my account (e.g. on Linux the paths get backed up as /storage/... but when referencing those same files from a Windows machine, the paths will be using a mapped drive path like z:\storage\...).

Thanks!

I got notification that an update was available. Clicked the "update" option in the notification window. An error was generated about permissions - "Setup unable to create directory ... idrivewindows/uninstall/.

When I close the window idrive uninstalls itself. I'm assuming that I have to reinstall idrive. How do I prevent this from happening again?

I am new to iDrive. I did receive a 1 terabyte drive from iDrive, filled it up and is now live on my 'cloud'. I ran a backup last evening, & it looks like it uploaded perhaps 30 gigabytes. But it was only 7% done. Now I really just wanted files that had been added or changed. This wouldn't have been more than 5 or 10 gigabytes I'm thinking. I checked my pictures which are the largest real-estate usually along with video files.

Is there a setting to do new files or should I just go in and save the new images, documents...

A good tutorial I have been looking for to explain the features.

I also have a large set of folders with checkmarks for exclusion into the backup. Not sure why those are there, as I did not set any folders to be excluded.

Android Data Recovery(http://datas-recovery.com/static/Android-Data-Recovery-Software.html) could help you to recover lost data on NOKIA 8 directly, including contacts, messages, call history, gallery, music, video, document, WhatsApp messages and so on.

In addition to NOKIA 8, it is also compatible with other Android phones, such as Samsung, HTC, LG, Huawei, Sony, Lenovo, OnePlus, ZTE, etc. Normally, the causes of data recovery are nothing more than those: accidentally deleted, factory restore, OS update, stuck and not responding.

The software can cope with these situations, in which case the lost or deleted data can be restored. In addition, the software is very convenient, and it uses simple steps, but also provides you with the corresponding tutorial to teach you.

dbailin on "How do we enable both online and local backups?"

In IDrive personal, on the Backup tab, I see two options: Backup files to my IDrive account and Backup files to Local, Wi-Fi and Express service. I can only choose one. I would like to have both run automatically. That way if I do need to restore, unless something catastrophic happens at my home, I can use the local backup. The online backup, with its limited bandwidth, would only be needed as a backup to the backup, just as it should be. How do I enable both?

Seanzilla on "RESTORE is SLOW!!"

So, my external hard drive failed after 2 1/2 years. Fortunately, I had the contents backed up to iDrive. So...I purchased another external drive, and I immediately started the process of restoring my files. Utilizing the resident program on my computer, the process was easy enough to set everything in motion for restore. This, of course, would be the defining moment to evaluate iDrive's ability to deliver, and that my backups will have been restored in their original condition. I have 277.53 GBs of data to recover. I have Charter/Spectrum internet with over 100Mb/sec, Customized and blazingly fast computer with plenty of RAM and running Windows 7 Ultimate. And, like I said, a brand new external drive.

Unfortunately, it has now been 32 hours, 19 minutes, and 15 seconds, and my process is only 55% done. The readout of "estimated time left" is a joke. It's been saying anywhere from 8-10 hours (tolerable) for the entire time. At this rate, it will be sometime in the middle of Wednesday before it has completed the restore process, and that's just too long to take for anyone's computer.

I've contacted customer service about this, but absolutely no reply.

I can assure you, iDrive may "win" with their pricing, but I'll be willing to pay more to someone else who provides faster service than this.

KDelande on "IDrive Servers Unreachable So Backup Fails - 148.66.224.48/49 (port 443)"

I signed up for iDrive on 1/1/2018 and have yet to have a successful backup. I opened a ticket (#ID612095166) a couple of days ago and since then, I've determined what I believe is going on. On the iDrive webpage for my account listing the ports I need to ensure i have access to (https://www.idrive.com/online-backup-firewall-guidance), there are two listed that I cannot reach from any computer on the Internet I have tried: My home network (no firewall block), at work, and at a few public IP test sites. The iDrive servers I cannot reach are 148.66.224.48 and 148.66.224.49 on port 443. I have installed WireShark and can confirm that is where the iDrive client is trying to go and cannot. I have the Tracefile.txt that I have sent to iDrive support to show that the client cannot reach those servers (well, at least one -- the log never show an attempt to .49 but I have tested that port and I suspect even if .48 is fixed, it will start talking to .49 only to fail).

Can ANYONE reach either of these servers on port 443?

I am still waiting for iDrive tech support to get back to me on this issue. Everything I am seeing points to this being a problem with iDrive and not anything on my end, either at home or at work and certainly the Open port check tools on the public Internet whose sole job is to verify port status.

I feel like my account is either miss-provisioned or iDrive has some issue on their side they are unaware of.

I need this addressed ASAP or else I will have to cancel my account since I have no service for what I paid good money for.

I don't update regularly so I don't have a back-up scheduled, but my backed up files have not been accessible for more than 24 hours on my computer or on my android app. I uninstalled and reinstalled both, but both just hang up when I try to access backed up files. Makes me wonder if my files are still there.

When doing online backup, Idrive is stuck in an infinite loop preparing the file list. It has worked in the past, but now does not progress past this initial stage.

I need to backup my data as soon as possible. This is very inconvenient.

We keep in touch with people with phone calls very conveniently. Thus, losing contacts on iPhone may be the most horrible thing. Is it possible to get the lost contacts back? If it is possible, what should we do?

Actually, we can recover deleted/lost contacts on iPhone through many ways. You can look at this article for reference:

Hope it will be helpful for you.

I`ve changed computer and could retrieve IDrive backup just renaming the machine on the iDrive cloud. It was slow, of course, but had worked fine.
I tried then restore from my local backup stored on a external usb drive, I just had connected to the new machine. All assigned drive letters were the same, but it hasn't worked like the online restore.
I couldn't find instructions about this situation either.
