I've scheduled a daily full system backup. Now I want to simulate a recovery scenario by taking new hardware, install Ubuntu and do a full restore of my system. But when I select / as the recovery path, iDrive interprets that as the default recovery location. How can I make a full restore of my Ubuntu system drive?
Backed up some folders to iDrive, I do not see the option to rename a folder/file or move a folder/file. Do not see any option for this.
Hi, I am another CrashPlan widow and the main feature I miss is the ability to create "Backup Sets" (groups of folders to backup as configured by user) and prioritize them to backup in the order determined by the user.
Some folders have top priority for backup (e.g. my current work folders) and having iDrive do them first before other less-important folders is the need.
Dear sir, madam,
I see many people in the forum experiencing the same thing: very very slow uploads. In my case not even 1% of the speed of my connection.
You are not addressing this problem correctly, the only thing I see you do is asking people to get in touch via the Send Error Report.
Wouldn't it be time to come out with a statement and explain what is going on? Or are you scamming us?
I have just started, it doesn't feel right in any way, due to your lack of appropriate online response. Since you are not performing as one might expect, I want to cancel my subscription and would like my money back.
I simply do not trust you with my data. And trust is key here.
How do I cancel?
I have IDrive set to start on computer start but it’s not happening. I have to start it manually, even though in settings I selected to start on computer start.
The operations of a new company tend to be pretty simple. While starting out the business is small and the problems are small too. But as the company grows difficulties arise in the operations. Document control tends to be a big problem among this. Most of the people starting a new business does not understand the need for an efficient document control system, like a software. I would like to point out some facts that will help understand the importance of a document control. The easiest way to understand the importance is by looking at the features they provide.
Quicker search and retrieval: All of the software lets you search through all of the documents and find the necessary one easily.
Centralized storage: This means all of the documents will be accessible to anyone inside the organization.
Easier collaboration: This can also help in better and easier collaboration among the employees.
I hope this was helpful for everyone who is looking to start a business. This is the document control software I use, check them out if you want.
browse folder with API in a path return ERROR "INVALID DEVICE ID", The code un python 3.6 is:
import urllib.parse, urllib.request
url = 'https://' + getUrlServer(uid, pwd) + '/evs/browseFolder'
params = urllib.parse.urlencode({
'uid': uid,
'pwd': pwd,
'p':'/LOTUS-PC/D/BACKUP/'
}).encode("utf-8")
file_res = urllib.request.urlopen(url, params).read()
I have tried with lowercase 'p':'/lotus-pc/D/BACKUP/', return the same error.
Others seem to have had similar problems though not exactly, so I am open to suggestions. The IDrive support person seemed stymied and simply said "looks like there is something wrong with your account" and left it there. Here's the deal...
I have around 300G of stuff to backup. Naturally, it takes too long even with high speed up. So, as a former CrashPlan user, I was pleased to see the IDrive Express option. I went through the process precisely as instructed and when my files were restored to the IDrive cloud, all looked good. Except now I cannot get IDrive desktop (Win) or online to perform and incremental; it will only do a FULL backup.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening? I am 2 days into a Full online backup and only 10% completed. Not an entirely untenable situation but hardly ideal. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or solutions :)
IDrive is not showing support for the 2018 models of Synology NAS units. I have a brand new DS418play model and have a couple of questions;
1. Is there any reasonable expectation that the universal installer will work on the brand new Synology models, specifically the DS418play?
2. If one uses the universal installer and later IDrive issues a version specifically for your model, how hard is it to change over, and would the backup start all over again?
My backup has not run in 4 weeks, as it shows 'This computer is offline' and has been showing that even though the computer has been online. Per a previous post, I do not see the option to send error report option from user name menu, only viewing or downloading logs. Please help!
On multiple computers I have the Idrive client local backup failing. When it runs, hundreds of files will fail each time. Sometimes the same files will fail and other times there are new ones.
Example of error:
ERROR] [01/17/2015 18:31:52] [[/C/Users/Csmith/Favorites/Stuff/News.com News!.url][Reason: permission denied]]
All of the users are local administrators. There are no permissions issues. I have made sure there is no other backup software, disabled the AV,etc. The files are in documents, pictures, favorites, and music.
Any ideas?
Thanks
I really worry about the reliability of iDrive.
My Evernotes db (almost 2GB)changes several times a day.
However, when I look into my ´Restore´ folders, the last version available is from 5 days ago.
I have my backups set to hourly.
Can others check this out, and does iDrive any comment for ths forum? (I have submitted an error report too)
Related to this, its interesting to note that I decided to try using the once a day daily schedule, set the time for 25 minutes in the future, and now, an hour later, its still running hourly backups...
I have selected my C drive to create a disk image of and after selected I press the "Create Disk Image" button.... Nothing happens and I have left it there after pressing for quite some time to make sure it wasn't a long process to start.
Any ideas on how to get this working?
From the IDrive Tray there is a right click selection for "Check For Latest Version". It doesn't work. Twice now since installing the software a couple of months ago, I've been notified by SUMo (software that checks for new versions) that a new version is available but when I select IDrive's version checker ... says latest version installed. Normally I would expect it to find the new version and start a download. If I directly go to the IDrive site and check the download available - yes there is a new version. So I was wondering if anyone else has noted the same here - that the check for latest version function - in fact does nothing?
"Your files and folders are currently unavailable as account is under maintenance."
MY backup has stopped working yesterday, its been almost 24 hrs. Pointless to have a backup that's down this long. Anything new in the last 24 hrs could just be gone if my PC is fried. Does it usually take 24-48 hrs to fix this??? I got a different product running as backup.
The scheduled backup script appears to fail because I don't have root user set up on my Fedora 25 system. Is there a way around this?
Please provide link to latest change log.
Thanks
I am in Western Europe (GMT+1+daylight time, so GMT+2 at the moment) but all the modification times and dates are out by several whole hours. I suspect it is showing everything in PST. Also, the date format is mm/dd/yyyy, which is US-specific and is potentially confusing for the first 12 days of every month.
When dealing with backups and versions it is very important that there be no confusion about dates and versions....
Can these two things be made configurable in the user profile? Or even better, derived automatically through the browser? Or have I missed a setting somewhere?
Hello,
Using various Windows platforms I notice that once a machine starts up or the service is started a scan of the Files for Online backup locations is auto performed.
Can we please have an option to disable this?
I ask as my main device is not powered up 24x7, I copy data to where I want it to backup at X time and then use the verify backup setup option to perform a scan prior to backup. Eg: backup scheduled for 12:00 and verify backup set is 11:30
It seems a bit un-needed to have the app auto scan when it starts as at least in my case nothing has been added to the backup location at startup or if the app is being used on a normal end user client that can be started and shutdown a few times a day ergo lots of scanning.
Thanks and cheers
