My iPhone has a "Notes" feature. Very handy for keeping snippets of text that I may wish to recall on a later occasion. Is there any way to backup this to my iDrive account?

I have found the online chat to be almost useless. When I ask a question it takes about 30 minutes to get any answer and then the answer does not really answer my question. Is there a email address to get proper support from?
stiber on "Excluding/including directories to be backed up regardless of permissions"
This is a question about appropriately setting up directories to back up (or, conversely, to exclude) on a Macintosh. As you know, Mac OS is Unix -- a multi-user OS. I note after installing IDrive that the backup daemons seems to run suid, as root. This makes sense -- they would have to in order to access all of the files on the computer to back them up.
However, the IDrive GUI console runs as an ordinary user's process, with only the permissions of that user. So, while it seems there's no problem to indicate that /Users should be backed up, or /Users/me/Documents (if "me" is the user running the console), there doesn't seem to be a way to indicate that /Users/otheruser/Documents should be backed up. So, this means that many gigabytes of Library and other files will get backed up unnecessarily. Is there any way to specify files to back up that the current user doesn't have read permission for (or, read/execute permission for the enclosing directory)? Or to indicate to exclude them? Any way to specify such a thing (either "back up" or "exclude") by typing in full path names?
Andre on "Archive Clean Up does not seem to work."
Hi
I have Idrive 6.5.0.11 and windows 10.
My Idrive account as more 150Gb than the folders I'm backing up on my PC
Every time I try to use Archive clean up, even when considering more than 50% of files to clean up, although idrive identifies a lot of files, it seems not to eliminate/delete old files on my backup.
I have also set up Peridic Clean up, (30 days) but I have plenty of files on my idrive backup and they are occupying a ton of space ...
What I'm I doing wrong?
Regards
Andre

EAZ on "Synology 404 error on apache"
Since DSM 6, I had to change the backend server from apache to nginx, to avoid the error 404 upon starting the idrive app.
Since recent, I have installed a Drupal application, that will only work with Apache (Error 403).
Is there any possibility that Idrive will (again) function on the standard Apache backend? This is a very annoying situation...
Cristian on "Sync issue in Win 10"
Hi,
after a win 10 upgrade the Idrive exe (ver.6.5.1.11) the sync program stopped to work properly; when I go into the sync tab, program shows me a totally blank field in my sync folder.
When I hit 'Modify' I can select any of my folders, but the program keeps giving me the response: 'The folder is indside your current Sync folder'.
If I hit the button 'Go To My Sync Folder' nothing happens.
I tried to reinstall several times the program, but the issue is still there.
Any thought?
Thank you.
mastashake57 on "Option to redirect "output.txt"/"error.txt" to RDBMS"
It would be nice to have the application write to an RDBMS. I'm trying to look through the code (I'm on a ReadyNAS) but it seems that a lot of the goodness is driven by the "idevsutil_IDrive" module. I'd hate to write something up that reads the file and into an RDBMS (very hacky). Please consider this as an enhancement.
Chachi501 on "IDrive says backup was success, when 10-20% of files have NOT been backed up"
As anyone experienced this issue? I recently noticed that when I do a manual backup of select folders IDrive will say the backup operation was a success, when actually only about 80-90% of the files have been backed up. When I retry the operation it immediately says the backup was successful, leaving 10-20% of my files.
I never would have found this error if I had not double checked the online directory and saw all of the missing files.
This is yet another big bug that could be affecting many users but they wouldn't ever know it without double checking every folder/file.
IDrive support continues to say they are looking into it, but I have had several other issues they are investigating which have not been resolved in 6+ weeks.
digitalbits on "Back up kid's files without exposing ability for kid to restore parent's files!"
I have three machines: Mac, Linux and Windows. Each has four accounts: Mom, Dad, Kid 1, Kid 2.
Backing up with iDrive I started by installing a profile in all 12 accounts (per customer support). But that's crazy. Among other things, that means Kid 1 and Kid 2 can "restore" any file from the parent accounts.
Instead I set up an account on Mac Mom's account. Then added each of the Kid's home folders. They show up with an angry red (-) symbol, but they back up just fine.
John_S on "IDrive is hogging 99% of my Mac's system resources--why?"
My Mac has been slow and it's practically brand new. I ran an EtreCheck diagnostic and it showed red for IDrive Daemon and that it was using 99% of my CPU with everything else relegated to the remaining 1%.
Why? How do I disable IDrive Daemon and then just manually back up when I need to. Giving up 99% of resources for automated backup seems excessive.
Thanks!

JBowers on "Backup never makes progress"
My client is running backups but the filecount never increases in the number of backups. It's run for 7hrs overnight and about 9hrs+ each day for the last week. Never makes progress. Thousands of retries are recorded in the log each time. Anyone ever run into this?
Other clients on my account are running fine. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, but nothing has worked.
Here's the summary of what ran overnight for 7+hrs. Nothing else going on, on my internet connection at the time.

JayUSA on "How does iDrive handle a locally deleted file?"
Hello,
I've deleted a file on my PC and I notice that it is still listed in the online iDrive directory when accessed via the Restore panel. Actually, the file is listed as having 2 versions, but if I try to access the previous versions, only one version is presented. I think this is probably desired and good behavior by iDrive, but I want to confirm with the forum.
Is it the case that when a file is locally deleted, a "new version" of it appears in the backup panel? And that this "new version" is actually just an indicator that the file has been locally deleted?
IF so, is it correct that if I restored the whole directory, the file would not be included in the restore set because it is not part of the latest version of the directory? (This would be good).
And if both the above are correct, why is it that when I click on the entire directory to have it restored, the locally deleted file within that directory is likewise clicked (as are all other files in that directory)?
Thanks,
Jay
ZappF on "Unhappy customer"
I'm posting this here because idrive has failed to act on my wishes requested in my email to their "support' to cancel my account and provide me with a refund. I signed up earlier this month and am completely dissatisfied with this "service". Backups are painfully slow - took hours to get to even 2% uploaded. Idrive ignored my request to cancel, offering me a 4 step fix - didn't make any difference. I then asked again to cancel. Idrive write back saying sorry I want to cancel and offered me Live Chat support or to phone them if I want to cancel. I'm not phoning. I don't want to Chat. I JUST want to cancel and receive a refund for this terrible service. I'm STILL waiting for action on my request! Very frustrating and extremely difficult to get out of this service. Please cancel and refund my account idrive. This is extremely frustrating. Ticket ID: ID00932185
sipe on "IDrive on DSM 6.0.2-8451"
After the latest DSM update (6.0.2-8451), all my backups have failed. That is because my shared folders are not shown anymore in the file/folder list of the IDrive app. Instead, there are strangely named folders g,h,he,n,ostot,t,ures, they all are empty and have the modification date 1970/1/1 2:00 AM. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the IDrive app, it did not help. Any idea what is wrong?

Hi,
Found a thread about this issue but it is a year old and only resolution was that development team would look into it.
My backup report states that one file failed to backup. Where can I look to learn which file that is?

Geneetik on "Win Server 2003: Account is locked out"
After I installed latest version 6.5.1.18 on the Windows 7 Professional, I detected important problem in our Primary Domain Controller (Windows Server 2003). The user account logged into that computer, is now locked out in our server. After I release the user in the server, after about 30 seconds repeats same thing. Etc.
Then I stopped iDrive Service in the Win 7 machine and account locking process stopped.
I started the iDrive service again and after short period (about 30 seconds) that account was locked out again.
What's the problem? Please help!

Hedake on "Syncing Junction Points"
I wish IDrive supported Syncing Junction Point targets.
It does some, but I found, not all.
Perhaps the difficulty for you is reconciling your sync with other providers' syncs, often of the same files.
Junction Points allow this simple logic:
Folder "G:\Cloud" describes my cloud structure.
It includes many Junction Points which target data folders.
Add to each service's Sync folder a single Junction Point which targets "G:\Cloud".
I do not need to copy any data.
I can divide portions of the cloud image between providers by deselecting some folders for syncing.
Because all cloud images have the same structure - I can find things!
I wish I could do this with IDrive and other providers.
Any plans to support syncing Junction Point targets?
Perhaps they make it too easy for us.
