Ronald on "IDrive Online and IDriveSync app different in login?"

I do have a paid account with IDrive. I want to use IDriveSync on my Android phone. If I want to login, it says: Wrong Email or Password. The IDrive Online App works fine with the same information. How to tackle this strange problem?

I have a client where the idrive tray icon is usually grey. I'm assuming this means it's not communicating properly? I can get it to be red, briefly, by stopping id_tray.exe and then restarting. The client does have Norton Internet Security, but i have allowed the id_tray.exe (as well as about 5 other idrive applications) and still the same problem persists. For now, I have disabled the firewall/antivirus completely, but still greyed out.

The customer complains that the backups aren't happening, and I can see from the log that this is true. No errors, just nothing.

My tray icon is always grey, even though it tells me "Sync Status: All files up to date".
Note: I am not using iDrive for any backup features, so that is turned off. I am hopeful that your system is built to work without me using the backup features, in order to get it functioning properly.

Seems like a serious issue to me.
I never have had such problems with Dropbox, but iDrive is giving me all sorts of problems. here.

I purchased services and installed the software earlier this week (a few days ago). I have run partial backups (albeit slowly, but that is understood) and backed up Gigabytes of data. Now backups on both PCs fail consistently with errors related to Internet connection. It's the same connection that I've used to back up data. When I look for backed-up data to restore, my account shows that I have none. Attempts to sign into my account on IDrive.com fail with a "there was some problem, try again later" message. I have opened a case with technical support but do not expect a reply back until Monday. I had to create a "free trial" account to sign in to be able to post this message. My main account fails to log in to the forum. Is this service completely down? What is going on? Is anyone else having trouble?

Hi,

I do not find anywhere the details on what to put inside PartialExcludeList and FullExcludeList files.

I know theese file leads to removing some content of the BackupsetFile, but how it works ?
I've tried to put into PartialExcludeList the name of a file I do not want to save and my backup drop from 173175 to 3331...

Yesterday, your website and services were unavailable for 2-3 hours. If this was unplanned maintenance I can understand. But if this was planned maintenance you really should be giving your customers notice ahead of time. And if unplanned, please take to Twitter or some other form of communication to notify rather than your customers having to guess what is going on.

From my ticket:
"The problem you had observed has been addressed at our end. This was due to some temporary maintenance. Please try accessing your account now and check if there are any concerns. Let us know if further assistance is required."

OK, maybe I'm just in a bad mood because I have to spend the first hour of my work schedule dealing with Idrive problems. Maybe there are good answers to my complaints.

(1) My Idrive stopped working after I upgraded to Windows 10. I see on another thread that this is a problem many Idrive users have experienced. How could Idrive overlook the need to keep up with the latest version of Windows?

(2) In searching for answers to my problem, I discovered this Idrive forum -- and a thread from several Idrive users reporting the same problem. But not a single substantive response from Idrive about the problem. Oh, dont' get me wrong -- an Idrive moderator is participating in the thread -- but only by responding to each subscriber by asking for their usernames and ticket numbers. Apparently to move the discussions offline. So why sponsor a forum if you aren't going to use it to talk to us?

(3) I found the forum the first time using Google. When I wanted to return to the forum, I couldn't find a link to it anywhere on the Idrive site, including on its Support page. Am I just missing it? Or is Idrive not too interested in promoting this forum. Only way I found my way back is with Google.

(4) I want to receive email updates of any new comments to my forum posts. But this forum offers no simple way to achieve that. Yeah, I see the button for the RSS feed. You know, about 10 years ago I used to know how to use that. Back in the day I used Feedburner and RSS feeds a lot. That was a very long time ago. I sure don't remember anymore what to do with all of that XML code that pops up when I click that button. Any other forum I have used for the last several years just has a simple button to receive emails when a thread is updated.

(5) Idrive advised that I could solve my problem by reinstalling Idrive. Which I have done. So, now I am looking at Idrive. I notice a button under Help that says "Check For Updates." I decide to confirm that the version I just loaded is the most recent. So I click on "Check for Updates" -- but rather than checking for updates, the button just begins downloading "the latest version of Idrive." I just want to know what the latest Version No. is. I just want to check to see if my current version is the most recent. Is there no way to do that?

Backup software is the kind of product that you buy and forget. I have been shelling out my little subscription fee each month for a long time, and receiving those little emails each day assuring me that my stuff is being backed up. I have thought about or looked at Idrive in a long time -- more than a year.

I get that nothing is perfect; that glitches ocassional occur. But when it does and I have to stop working to take time to deal with Idrive, please make it a pleasant experience. Please:

(1) Give me a response to my ticket that tells me something about the problem. The response I received said nothing about the Windows 10 conflict -- it just told me to reinstall the software. I only learned about the Windows 10 problem here on this forum. Tell me what's going on, so I can be assured that you know more about this problem than my fellow users on this forum.

(2) If you don't want to tell me personally, tell me by way of the forum. Isn't that why it exists? Several of us report the samne problem -- and you discuss it with all of us and lead us to a solution. Why aren't you using the forum for that purpose?

(3) Give me a link to the forum on your support page -- so I don't have to sneak around through Google to find it. (I apologize if you have a Forum link on your webpage and I just can't find it).

(4) Give me a way to subscribe to these forum threads,l so I can keep up with responses -- that doesn't involve me taking a refresher course on RSS feeds.

Not sure when it stopped but when you right click on the system tray icon, it not longer brings up the iDrive menu. You have to open iDrive in order to make certain changes.

Just bought IDrive 1TB earlier and doing my first backup(224gig)

My question is there anyway I can pause the backup(heard it's a long first one), turn my computer off for the day and then resume the initial backup without starting over? Will the pause button do this or no?

Hey community!
I just tried this awesome application, in the process of finding the optimal online cloud backup storage service for my needs.

I only have use of backing up images, and photoshop files, along with video material and other media which is precious to me :-P

One thing that I'm really missing from this service, is the ability to quickly being able to choose a picture from your backed up media through thumbnails, but I've failed to be able to enable an option for this.

I must say it's quite a dealbreaker, if I've uploaded, say 1000 pictures, and have to download them all to be able to select the photos I want..

When I'm using the Sync option, the thumbnails works as intended on pictures.. Is this a serverside bug, or something I've overlooked in my search for options?

Anyone else experienced this?

First off, I WILL NOT FILE A TROUBLE TICKET. Your support is horrifically poor and I have better things to do with my time than try to convince iDrive level 1 support that there is yet ANOTHER BUG! You can participate with me in this thread and fix your product, or you can just forget about it. Your choice; after spending months trying to get you to fix two other confirmed bugs, I don't really care anymore.

1. I have NOT changed my settings or my schedule. I have a pending schedule that is set for 7:30 PM on M-Tu-W-Th-Fr

2. According to my logs, the last backup occurred on Monday Feb 9.

3. NO backup occurred on 2/10 or 2/11, yet it was scheduled.

4. There are no log entries or error messages to explain this.

5. The "iDrive status" is correctly reporting that the next scheduled backup is for 2/12 at 7:30p

6. The only thing that has changed since the last successful backup is that I updated my iDrive software to Mac v3.1.0.36 Clearly this last update broke something! Can you hear me this time? I updated the iDrive software and then my scheduled backups stopped working without any log entries or error messages!

The app appears to log the name of every file in the backup set EXCEPT the files it actually writes, which makes my log file about 10,000 lines of useless information. It would be infinitely more useful if it would log ONLY the filenames of excluded and newly written files/folders, along with the current summary information.

That would make it SO much easier to check up on our backups!

I am using 2.03.15 on a Synology DS411j.

I am in Western Europe (GMT+1+daylight time, so GMT+2 at the moment) but all the modification times and dates are out by several whole hours. I suspect it is showing everything in PST. Also, the date format is mm/dd/yyyy, which is US-specific and is potentially confusing for the first 12 days of every month.

When dealing with backups and versions it is very important that there be no confusion about dates and versions....

Can these two things be made configurable in the user profile? Or even better, derived automatically through the browser? Or have I missed a setting somewhere?

Hi,

i'm missing the option to do a archive cleanup from the Synology package. I have moved some files and realized that these was backed up twice. Would somehow need to remove old files which is no longer availible on the NAS.

Does anyone know what is causing this? I've tried three times in a row and it fails every time after an hour or so. This is my first backup so it is a pretty significant file transfer, around 60Gb. It doesn't look like it ever transfers anything though... It still says "Files backed up now: 0, Size: 0 bytes"

Any help would be much appreciated!
