I must have had my setting wrong from the get-go. I am now over my 1000 gig limit, again. There is something about iDrive that just doesn't compute for my brain and if I get extra charges again I"ll simply cancel and go with my old online backup company. The problem -- I try to do archive cleanup and it won't let me, saying cleanup will delete more than 25% of files. In fact, it says there are 1031649 files and it wants to delete 1007622 files. All I want is a continuous backup in case something goes wrong and I need to restore, something that worked well with my previous company. How do I get out of this bind without damaging my backup?

When I run a manual backup job as sudo, all files on my Ubuntu headless server are backed up fine. But on scheduled jobs it fails on many files, to to denied permission. Could it be it does not run as sudo by default? And how can I change that?

I am running PC Matic Super Shield and it is blocking idwutil_600.exe. The only work around that I have found is to pause super shield manually and run a backup.

I only see windows machines appear...

I successfully installed the Synology Backup Version 2.03.24, and was able to select the volume/path of my Synology I wanted to backup. But now, whenever I get into the app, and go to "Backup", I get a greyed out panel and two spinning wheels. Like it's trying to fill in something. It just spins and spins until I eventually get signed out due to inactivity.

If I click on "Restore", "Scheduler" or "Log", no problem. Thoughts?

today I shared a new file. I tested the link in a private browser session an login screen appeared.

Reply by the Support: "For your https://www.idrive.com/idrive/sh/sh/XXXXXXXXXX issue, please be informed that your recipient will have to sign up for a new account in order to access the link. This is a new behaviour introduced in IDrive for safe and secure transfer of data/files."

PLEASE, make the share function work again the way as before and the way it works in Dropbox and google drive! Force people to create an account because I want someone to download a file is not good!

Frustrated. I have been an IDrive user for just over a year (in fact my account renewed a month ago). I've been using it for my Synology, but with the death of Crashplan I started to move my laptop over to IDrive.

While looking for the clients I see that IDrive now supports a new Snapshot feature. Sounds great.

One problem, my account is too old and doesn't support the feature (who releases a new feature that isn't available to existing customers). So I chat with support and then billing. They just can't move me to a new account. I have to purchase a new account for 1 year for $69.50 and then they'll add my existing 11 months to the new account and extend it. Not sure I want to give IDrive another $70.

Next time you release software consider your existing customers, it is ALWAYS cheaper to keep an existing customer then find a new one.

The back-ups have failed for two weeks. I have sent numerous error reports with no response. There is a box on the dashboard that says computer offline. If the computer is offline (how am I seeing this forum if so?) how do I get it back on line and how do I get the back-ups to continue?

Backed up some folders to iDrive, I do not see the option to rename a folder/file or move a folder/file. Do not see any option for this.

I use it with Eventghost to Start Backup and, 1h later, start power save mode (in an batchfile with nircmd). I start the process via shortcut or over my android smartphone with tasker and Auto Remote.

I updated my firmware to 6.1.4-15217 Update 1 and then the package to 2.03.34. Installed PHP7 when prompted. When trying to get to the page I got "no input file".

Found online that I needed to set PHP7 as the default in WebStation. So that's been done. Now I get the log into the Synology page, but after that it's just a blank page.

Any suggestions?

If you could add the option to use a device like Square-Enix or RSA SecurID as an added layer of security I believe you would be the first cloud backup service to offer it.

Hello,

I want to move my data from my PC to my new bought NAS.
It's about 1.5 TB of data and you do not support data deduplication.
Is there any way I can move the data so that I will not upload again 1.5 TB of data...it takes a long time to upload it...

I'm using Chrome 61.0.3163.100 on my Mac running MacOS 10.12.6. I tried to do a basic restore of a file that my wife's PC had backed up (a PDF) to see if I could download a copy to my Mac. Apart from the fact that the file/folder tree is *not sorted alphabetically* (which made it a bear to navigate), I eventually found the PDF I wanted to download, checked it off and clicked on "Download to this Computer". What I ended up with was:

1) A file called "iDrive.zip" that was NOT a zip file (it was an XML document)
2) The file was only 83 bytes in size
3) All it contained was this XML:

<tree message="ERROR" desc="INVALID PATH"/>

I tried this from the latest Firefox/Mac, and got a different error; an alert window showed up saying:

So apart from fixing this bug so that you get the actual file(s) you want, I would strongly recommend that you:

1) Keep the file/folder tree sorted
2) Give the file a name that indicates what it's doing (even if it's as simple as "iDrive Restore <date>.zip". Otherwise just seeing "iDrive.zip" could mean that it was a recent download of the iDrive app, or an update, or something else
3) Keep the "Classic View" until you know the Dashboard is *bulletproof* (if you were thinking of ditching the Classic view, that is), because Classic View at least is sorted and downloads properly from Chrome

I'm using Chrome 61.0.3163.100 on my Mac running MacOS 10.12.6. When I try to get a file restored from iDrive running on my iPhone (in this case it was a Word document), I bring up the Sharing Sheet and send it to my Mac via AirDrop. When my Mac receives it, it is a URL that opens in my default browser (Chrome); but that just displays a web page that says:

If I copy and paste the *exact same URL* to Firefox, it works properly... so there's something about Chrome/Mac and what it is looking for that is not being provided by iDrive.

I've installed the desktop app version 6.5.1.18 for Windows. When I try to login to my account, it says "Unable to connect. Try again.". I've restarted the computer and tried all sorts of things, it just won't work. What can I do?

I've had to move a hard disk I already have synced with IDrive to another computer because the disk controller on the original computer was not recognizing the hard disk anymore.
Can I somehow just resync the moved hard disk to my existing IDrive backup somehow?

I have installed the iPhone app and would like to use it to recover at a remote location certain files that have been backed up on my home system. Recovery, I presume, would occur via email -- I'd email the file to the person that needs it. Can this be done with the iPhone app?
