Hey, I have the newest version of ubuntu and was able to install idrive on my laptop but not my desktop. Tried idevsutil with no avail. Get the following error msg after I chmod a+x it. Running under root as well.

*/Documents/idrive/Account_Setting.pl

In the C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\IDrive is a LOT of data. 86GB !

The IBCOMMON folder contains almost all of this data.

I want to clean this up. What is safe to delete? Please don't tell me I can't delete this. I'm on a smallish SSD and need to get rid of it or in the very least move it to another drive (HDD). Please help!

I cannot connect to iDrive and I keep getting a popup saying "Your account is under maintenance..." I contacted Chat Support three days ago and was told someone would contact me. I haven't heard a peep. The good news is there is competition in the online backup world. I'm looking at my other options.

Recently updated iDrive on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) with Sierra 10.12.5 (16F73) to Version 3.5.0.7.

Have experienced a system crash daily for the last several days without an error message or noticeable warning signs (like lag or overactive fan). System will freeze for a few seconds and then turn off. Always possible it's related to another configuration/app/something, but the timing makes me concerned, and this last time I definitely noticed an iDrive window pop up right before the crash.

Alonaria on "Disabling Auto-Renew?"

I went to the FAQ and found the following instructions:

"If you wish to disable auto-renewal, log in to your account via our website, click your username in the upper right corner of the screen, select ‘Account’, and click the ‘Disable auto-renewal’ button."

However, I can't seem to find the "Disable auto-renewal" button? And, after looking at screenshots included on the same FAQ page I've noticed that the button is there, but not present in the same place on my own account page?

Here's a screenshot:

Please let me know how to disable auto-renewal, thank you!

When doing online backup, Idrive is stuck in an infinite loop preparing the file list. It has worked in the past, but now does not progress past this initial stage.

I need to backup my data as soon as possible. This is very inconvenient.

Okay so idrive is pretty much sueless for me right now as not working. I have sync folder set up and it was woring but now for some reason it's not happening. It tells me in the system tray when I hover over the icon that all files are up to date. When I go in the sync folder I can see a mix of blu and green icons showing that some are synced and some arent and this is reflected when I check online. So with some files not synced, they should be uploading but theyre not. Help!

BillT on "iBackup cannot see connection to mapped drives"

I'm seeing a repeated problem with several clients using iBackup for both cloud and local backups. The cloud backup seems to work ok, but the local backups - backing up to a share on a server as a mapped drive, seems to repeatedly and utterly fail. I've worked with support to try to identify why this seems to be happening so often at so many different accounts and the fix in the past has been "install the latest update of client software" and sometimes it will run and then eventually will fail again with the error "Unable to continue the scheduled Backup. Reason: Drive X:\ is not connected." although drive X is indeed connected and available to the user under which the program is running. I'm posting this here to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue and what they have been able to learn about what's causing it and ideally how we can fix it. I really like the iBackup product performance in general and certainly the costs for my clients, but this single irritating recurring problem and my difficulty in obtaining the level of support to resolve it is really starting to get to me. Anyone else seeing this issue with local backups using iBackup when the destination is a local network location that is a mapped drive?

Your Computer Guy on "iDrive Bandwidth test shows the same results on different connections"

I complained about the slow speeds several times and received a very unhelpful response saying iDrive didn't throttle speeds.
Well, did several tests on five different connections in New Zealand and two in the U.S. on the same day - all reported the upload speed is 3.43 Mbps. How is that even possible with so many variables at play?
Just did another test on two different connections and BOTH report 1.14 Mbps.

My concern isn't even the slow speeds - after the initial backup is done, subsequent backups don't take too long. The support emails are a blatant lie. I would have respected you a lot more if you replied "we do have QoS policies in place to ensure all customers can upload files and not cause a bottleneck" - which appears to be the case, - rather than stating there is no throttling.

It could be a nice option to have a password to open the application.
Because if someone takes control of your computer and crypt the files - he could be dangerous if this people can erase the idrive account before...

Still trying to get that initial backup performed (for 2 weeks), and still on 30% complete (81.09GB of 270.49 GB). Ran all day and got from 29% to 30%.
Noticed that if i do Speedtest, my upload speed drops from the normal 1.00 Mbps upload speed to 0.3 Mbps. My download speed runs between 12 to 15 Mbps. I don't seem to have any other issue except the slowness of this backup process. I expected the initial backup to be slow, but 2 weeks later and less than a third of the way there? Seems like there is something wrong with this application.
Any body else suffer from such a slow process? i have the 1000 GB plan, and not sure i'll renew next time. Purchased a competitor solution for my daughter and the interface and backup seemed to be much slicker and faster.

I have installed the iPhone app and would like to use it to recover at a remote location certain files that have been backed up on my home system. Recovery, I presume, would occur via email -- I'd email the file to the person that needs it. Can this be done with the iPhone app?

ibnsaud on "Bandwidth Test"

My independent bandwidth tests right now are reporting about 87 Mbps down and 11.88 Mbps up. This is my typical CAT5 bandwidth (Xfinity). Your bandwidth test reports 10 Mb/s down and 3.43 Mb/s up. Your numbers looked like WiFi numbers but this PC is not on WiFi - I even double-checked to be sure. Can you let me know why these reports are so different? What can I do to have iDrive recognize and use all of my available bandwidth? Many thanks.

Is anybody else having trouble with the quality of support from IDrive?

I've asked these questions 5 times and they have refused to answer:

1. What does /SCH/D mean in the logs when it shows up in a file path vs.
something like D:?

2. What is the most common reason why "files already present" would drop
by nearly 80,000 (in one day) while the "files considered for backup" stays the same
at roughly around 210,000?

Why are all of my devices indicating they are current backups but the web site is only showing the content from the initial backup?

It doesn't look like iDrive is backing up my content.

I signed up yesterday for IDrive. So far, it has uploaded

Hi,
I just signed up for idrive. As part of the sign up process I was asked to select the encryption mode for the account. When I selected private key I was prompted to enter the private key. Why do I need to do this on the website? The entire point of a private key is that all encryption is done locally on the client. You shouldn't need this information.
Thanks,
Jarrod

Hello,

Hello,
I am trying to get under Ubuntu 16.10
I would like to connect via curl and downlaoad my files from sync space, how can I do to save file which I am calling to download?

When I am grabbing that request (which effects downlaoding file in browser) from the Firefox for developers I haven't any answer after ending curl execution in CLI. Execution takes about 2 -5 secs so I am sure that there is connection with server, but I haven't answer. :(
