I have Netgear Readynas and I'm currently using the web based client to perform backups. seems to be working fine. However, I notice there are two other possible approaches to backing up from linux. There are some command line perl scripts, and there is the so called "DataCenter Edition".
Can anyone clarify some of the pros and cons of each of these approaches?
The web ui is nice to use, but I am perfectly able to setup backup scripts from the command line as well if that is better in some way or offers some advantages, such as perhaps being able to constrain the CPU or anything else. I do notice right off the bat that with the command line tools I can specify system level dirs that I cannot specify from the web ui. It sort of doesn't matter though since iDrive appears to throw away owner perms when backing it up...regardless of which tool is used...
Any suggestions welcome...
